At the moment am watching an episode of ‘Carrier’, a National Geographic documentary on life aboard the USS Nimitz, America’s largest warship.

During the segment on religion aboard the ship, i was particularly taken by the words of one african american sailor. He said his fellow sailors and own country were going to war in Iraq to free them, yet so much ‘rape’, ‘hate crime’, ‘killings’, et cetera, are taking place back in America. He made a final comment that ‘people [with reference to worship session he was about to join] worshipped God to make themselves feel good.’
It’s a valid statement, but personally, i don’t really care to make a moral judgement on the issue. However such views do make us think. And i’m sure it could be discussed in a local context as well.
Penny for our bloody, hypocritical thoughts.
