I say nooooooo……..
Was at Tanglin mall for a nibble nibble with Edward after the reception at the Australian High Commission.
This was what was hanging outside THAT CD SHOP (think the store’s entire name’s capitalised right?) .
C’mon. She can’t bloody sing, and we all know most images in the media of her are digitally processed, including the poster below. I remember ‘See You Again’ playing continuously over the radio while i was still in the army. Casting dental moulds with a song unbecoming of the singer’s age (you know what i mean. the whole ‘objectifying of females’ thing for those who don’t), really does make it memorable, in a not so good way.
Admittedly her husky voice in Hannah Montana was rather attractive, but she’s not exactly a prim and proper teen that Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, is, despite the latter’s scandal last year. I think Miley’s becoming another unfortunate idol that’s all gloss and nothing else. Well, she obviously likes the attention and that sort of reputation, but it’s unfortunate still, at least for the misled female adolescent population. A misleading cynosure, like the Sirens or a lighthouse without a harbour. I honestly believe history is precedent enough for us to understand the consequences of misguided hero(ine) worship.
And we all know what the album title, Breakout, in this context means. However the words ‘acne’, ‘hives’, ‘allergies’ and whatnot were a split second from my mind. Don’t think that’s wise marketing, especially when coupled with ‘fantastic debut album’ right below it, as seen in the poster below.
She really does need to find her own self and define her own image. But who can blame her. She’s still a teen after all.
