On her first day at work, incoming 67th Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was given the usual welcome and gave the customary first-day-at-work speech.
Not. Watch the video, and see the huge crowd of state department workers that filled the building. I read about it somewhere on the web, and thought, gosh, i should go google and see. So much for her ‘hawkish’, ‘plastic’, ‘superficial’, ‘my-way-or-the-highway’ stereotypes that have plagued her since the ‘Clinton’ became a household name.
Honestly, Clinton looks as if she is LIBERATING the state department. Maybe this was what Cheney thought would happen in iraq (they will ‘greet us as liberators’). There’s no point attempting to describe the excitement surrounding the occasion - watch the video for yourself.
I really do think Hillary has learnt a lot on the campaign trail. Whether she really has become more sincere, we cannot say, but from this video, she does seem so much warmer than she was prior to the primaries of the presidential race.
However, i firmly believe the warmth she has received in asia, turkey and europe and well-deserved. More importantly, i do hope things between the US and the rest of the world improve exponentially. As an individual who has immense verve, drive and personality, i hope the lady who made the pant-suit iconic will do the same for diplomacy and pragmatism.
Viva la Obama-Hillary.
and oh yeah, Biden’s a great guy, and sure he could help. still think he’ll be relegated to taking a seat behind the president and the secretary of state. how is one supposed to compete with two individuals, obviously of presidential-material…
