Chung Cheng High School Biology Prelim Answer FAIL

High School Biology Paper FAIL

I am really really tempted to post the name of the school that set this paper. But i shan’t, by a very slim margin.

This biology preliminary examination from last year is included in the universal set of past year papers that is sold publicly. What you see below is not a typo or a random error – both the question and answer corroborate their own FAILness. Cystic fibrosis is not a genetic condition of the pancreas!

Speaking of which, i am quite flabbergasted that all the ‘retailers’ i have contacted (across the island) are all selling the very same set of papers from the exact same schools. Sounds as if there’s a past-year-examination-paper kingpin lording over the distribution of these scripts. And unfortunately for the student, the lack of variety and brand nameschools (rightly equated with the difficulty of questions) penalises them in the examination rat race.

Anyways, without further ado:

haha you named your pictures “chung cheng high school biology prelim paper FAIL”, technically telling us which school it was!

however, i think cystic fibrosis clogs the pancreatic ducts as well as the lungs :)

Hi there hazel. Thanks for dropping by!

Oh dear – i think i did let a very big cat out of the bag.

Well, CF is the mutation of the gene coding for the CFTR protein which in turn is found throughout the body. Therefore it's more horrid than we are taught in schools and affects the entire body. Check out the pathophysiology of CF on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cystic_fibrosis

Anyways, the O and A level syllabi focus on its effects on the lungs, so the school's ventured a bit further than need be. :/

Thanks for the comment and cheers :)
