Counter Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM)

I’ve always thought C-RAM technology was absolutely cool. It literally is shooting a projectile with another projectile. A bullet or a missile is already travelling at such a high speed. The room for error and reaction is definitely reduced by another order of magnitude when you introduce an active (as opposed to a passive measure, such as armour) counter such as another bullet.

How the boffins do it, is utterly amazing.

Skyshield’s a new technology that’s just appearing on front page news and i think the technology is utterly amazing. If it works as claimed, it could do wonders, especially for tiny countries like Singapore. Our land scarcity means we have to balance land usage with our defence needs, and this certainly could reduce the risk of say, our runways, from area of denial operations. Cool.
