
According to Macworld, Yahoo Briefcase is closing down on the 30th of March. Well, that makes it even more compelling for us to classify it as a blast from the past.
Approximately half a decade ago, when i was still in lower secondary, this gave us one way of porting our documents around. A mobility solution before email inboxes were measured in gigabytes.
As a student, this free file hosting service allowed me to finish up a presentation at home, bypass the floppy and flash card (thumbdrives weren’t so popular), and download it and present when i was in school. However, 30 MB typical of the web 2.0 era and was quite the pain in the ass. Ah well.
Given how long ago it was and how rarely i used it, i can’t remember any other details aside from its 5MB upload limit. Probably because it was a simple, easy to use service.
It was a good deed on yahoo’s part, but i doubt it was all that popular. Perhaps it’s a good thing to finally let it rest in peace.
